15 restaurants come to Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park the first Saturday in May each year to give everyone a ‘taste’ of what they have to offer.  Live local and regional bands entertain on the Pavilion Stage. There is also a children’s area, and a 5K run. New to the 2012 event is a craft market featuring local artists and crafters. The Friday evening before the main event there is always live entertainment and a few restaurants come out early to satisfy your taste buds until Saturday. Over 50 years of traditions of water, air, sporting and entertainment events. This 10 day festival takes place in mid-July each year at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park. The Beaufort Shrimp Festival has been celebrating local wild caught shrimp for several years. The South Carolina Shrimper’s Association partners with Main Street Beaufort each year to bring awareness to thousands of visitors and residents. The festival takes place the first Saturday in October with a concert and preview of food the night before. Restaurants compete for the coveted Silver Cup and bragging rights for best shrimp dish each year. Some festival goers take part in the Shrimp Heading Competition and some children touch their first shrimp in the Shrimp Peeling Competition. Sea Island Rotary organizes the rubber shrimp race each year and live entertainment, a children’s area, craft market, and 5K run round out this popular festival. During the Fall Festival of Houses and Gardens visitors are invited to explore Beaufort from a rare vantage point: a selection of private homes, gardens, and plantations normally not open to the public welcome visitors inside. The houses represent three centuries of Beaufort architecture for which the city is justly famous. These self-paced walking tours offer a distinctive opportunity to observe how contemporary lifestyles are lived within the framework of our unmatched architectural heritage. The Gullah Festival of South Carolina celebrates and recognizes the history, customs, cultures, language and accomplishments of the African Americans of the low-country.The festival is always held on the weekend leading up to Memorial Day at the Henry C.
